artist bio

Joanna Shoop is a full time tattooist, painter, and creative from Southern California. She is based at Cast of Crowns in Laguna Beach CA where she has tattooed her incredible clients for the past four years. Working in her colorfully vibrant and graphic style, Joanna found her passion for line-work when acquiring her BFA in Drawing and Painting from Laguna College of Art and Design. She believes in art that represents your individual voice and sense of self-expression.

As an artist, my work is centered around the concept of movement and capturing fleeting moments that are lost forever, such as the feeling of regret after a conversation ends.

Through my art, I strive to express my perspective on life and the constantly evolving nature of our experiences. I believe that everyone has experienced "l'esprit d'escalier" or the feeling of coming up with the perfect response too late. My goal is to create work that resonates with those who have similar experiences, connecting with them on a personal level.

My intention is to evoke emotion and create a shared experience through my paintings. By exploring the delicate and fleeting nature of time and our experiences, my art seeks to offer a sense of solace and understanding in the ephemeral nature of life.
